Nouveau distributeur de SuSE Linux

Je me rappelle d'un message il y a quelques mois, demandant où l'on pouvait trouver des boites SuSE Linux au Luxembourg. J'avais renseigné Promoculture (Luxembourg-ville) et Ernster (Belle-Etoile). La personne concernée m'avait informé que Promoculture lui avait dit ne plus en rentrer avant la sortie de la SuSE 9.3 ou 10.0... Pour info, je viens d'apprendre qu'un nouveau distributeur a fait l'effort de se lancer dans la vente de Linux: il a fait rentrer des dizaines de boites SuSE Linux 9.2, en Français et en Anglais. C'est Exell, au CityConcorde (Bertrange). Si quelqu'un cherche une boite SuSE Linux 9.2, peut-être est-il judicieux d'aller là dans un premier temps, afin qu'ils ne renoncent pas à distribuer ce produit. Je n'ai évidemment _AUCUN_ intérêt là dedans autre qu'à tenter d'augmenter le nombre des points de vente Linux au Luxembourg... Some time to kill

In the last few months, I have chosen Slackware to be my favorite Linux distro, and I have installed and tweaked it to what I wanted to have. Workstation and server are working fine. Now I start being annoyed again. Therefore, I am looking for a nice project to work on during my spare time. It should be technical, Linux-related, possibly involving some (even some major) programming (Python is my language of choice). Nothing political, and nothing with a fixed deadline, but technically challenging. No fancy GUI stuff, rather some bloddy useful command-line utility. Or maybe something completely different I have not yet thought of. If you have a specific need or a good idea, please let me know!

Au moment du démarrage, un lecteur situé à l'intérieur du véhicule authentifie par radiofréquence la balise électronique associée à la clé de contact ; en cas d'échec, le moteur s'arrête. Mais ce système offre-t-il toutes les garanties de sécurité ? Pas selon des informaticiens de l'Université John Hopkins (Maryland). En achetant des composants électroniques classiques à un prix modique et en s'aidant de documentations disponibles sur Internet, ces derniers sont en effet parvenus à décoder la clé de chiffrement du Digital Signature Transponder (DST), le dispositif vendu par Texas Instruments (TI) aux fabricants comme Ford. La vulnérabilité du système repose en fait sur la cryptographie des informations échangées entre le lecteur et la puce. Pour cela, TI a utilisé un algorithme développé dans les années 1990 avec une clé de 40 bits, un niveau de sécurité largement dépassé de nos jours. En moins de 2 heures, les chercheurs ont percé à jour les clés de 5 DST. Ils ont ensuite répété l'opération avec succès sur le Speedpass d'ExxonMobile qui permet de faire le plein à une station service sans fournir de carte de crédit grâce à une étiquette électronique. Pour les spécialistes, ces deux réussites démontrent la nécessité de recourir à un chiffrement plus fort (de type 128 bits), sans quoi des pirates pourraient bien apprendre à dérober à distance les clés d'identification radio - de plus en plus répandues - des consommateurs. dsl in luxembourg?

Chers linuxeurs, avant de quitter définitivement Ons Schéi Heemecht (eh oui, les meilleures choses ont une fin), j'essaie d'installer Linux chez une amie -- et surtout de faire marcher LuxDSL, ce qui n'est pas une mince affaire. Elle utilise un Kit Cube LuxDSL, avec un modem USB ZyXEL 630-11 qui semble fonctionner sous PPPoE (si Windows ne ment pas). J'ai recompilé un noyau récent 2.6.10 avec les drivers téléchargés à la page suivante http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/usbatm/2005-January/000010.html Mais quand je lance la connexion avec amnet4up.sh (le script pour pppoe, semble-t-il), mon noyau est surchargé d'erreurs jusqu'à ce que j'arrête le tout avec amunload.sh, et alors je n'arrive plus à relancer la chose. Je vois que les scripts lancent un pont ATM avec VCI=8 VPI=32, ce qui me paraît suspect car je crois qu'en PPPoE il n'y a rien de tel (et de tels paramètres n'existent pas sous Windows). Bref, je suis bien embêté de ne pas arriver à faire fonctionner correctement Linux chez cette amie. Si vous aviez des suggestions, elles seront le bienvenue. Peut-être y a-t-il déjà quelqu'un qui a fait fonctionner l'ADSL sous Linux au Luxembourg, avec cette configuration ou une autre, et qui veut bien me donner un tuyau?
