you may be aware of the german iX magazine from Heise, a magazine
"for professional IT".
They are now testing the waters regarding an english version, called
"iX international" - check out http://www.ix.de/en/
This is to be distributed in PDF format via paid subscription.
The pilot issue is a free download.
As for the german version, I've got my own subscription. They often
have quite interesting themes. Since it's about "professional IT",
Unix/Linux themes appear quite often, though they also talk about
"those other systems".

je vais bientot acheter un Shuttle pour mettre dans mon salon (à la
place de la télé :-) )
Est-ce que quelqu'un a déjà tenté l'expérience d'installer Linux sur
un Shuttle ? Si oui lequel et l'expérience a-t-elle été concluante ?
Je sais que MandrakeLinux avait un partenariat avec Shuttle pour MDK9.1

Juste une petite question:
Apres avoir lu l'article "Mir schwetzen lëtzebuergesch!" dans PaperJam
http://www.paperjam.lu/c/articles/9990.html, je me suis demandé où en
était-t-on pour Linux? Une recherche vite-fait sur google ne révèle rien....
Y a-t-il une distrib' qui permette d'avoir l'interface en langue
luxembourgeoise? Ca serait sympa d'avoir ça dans les lycées par exemple
(associé au projet de www.lll.lu)?
Aussi au salon SIExpo j'aurais bien vu une rangée de Knoppix( ou du moins
quelques postes) en luxembourgeois pex, même si pas tout le monde pourrait
s'en servir ...
Ca serait une méthode comme une autre de promouvoir Linux, no?
Microsoft s'en servira sûrement pour gagner des part de marchée au GDL alors
pourquoi ne pas faire de même?

Les autorités US ont émis une injonction fédérale au bureau US de
Rackspace, leur commandant de remettre le matériel d’Indymedia situé à
Londres au FBI. Rackspace est un des hébergeurs d’Indymedia avec des
bureaux aux USA et à Londres. Rackspace s’est exécuté, sans en avertir
préalablement Indymedia, et a desactivé le serveur d’Indymedia au R-U.
Ceci affecte plus de 20 sites Indymedia à travers le monde.
Puisque l’injonction a été émise contre Rackspace et pas contre
Indymedia, les raisons de cette action sont toujours inconnu
d’Indymedia. S’adressant aux bénévoles d’Indymedia, Rackspace a déclaré
que « ils ne pouvait fournir à Indymedia aucune information concernant
l’injonction. » Les fournisseurs d’accès ont reçu des ordres de
discretion dans les situations semblables, ce qui les empêche de mettre
au courant les parties concernées au sujet de ce qui se produit.
Comment et pourquoi un serveur qui est en hors de la juridiction des
USA peut-il être saisi par les autorités US sont des questions peu
claires pour Indymedia.
Dans le même temps un second serveur qui assurait le streaming pour
plusieurs stations radios, hébergeait BLAG (une distribution linux) et
une poignées de choses diverses, a été désactivé chez Rackspace.
Ces derniers mois de nombreuses attaques ont été dirigées vers les
médias indépendants par le gouvernement fédéral des USA. En août, les
services secrets ont employé une injonction afin d’essayer de perturber
l’IMC New York City avant la Convention Républicaine (RNC) en essayant
d’obtenir les logs d’IP des fournisseurs d’accès aux USA et aux
Pays-Bas. Le mois dernier la Commission Fédérale des Communications US
(FCC) a fermé les stations radio communautaires à travers les USA. Il y
a deux semaines le FBI a demandé qu’Indymedia supprime un article sur
IMC Nantes qui contenait une photo de policiers suisses démasqués, et
des bénévole d’IMC Seattle ont reçu la visite du FBI au même sujet.
D’autre part, Indymedia et d’autres organismes de médias indépendants
jubilaient à la suite de leurs victoires, par exemple contre Diebold et
le Patriot Act. Aujourd’hui cependant, les autorités US ont arrêté des
IMCs à travers les monde.
La liste des collectifs de médias locaux affectés inclut Ambazonia,
l’Uruguay, l’Andorre, la Pologne, le Massachusetts occidental, Nice,
Nantes, Lille, Marseille, Euskal Herria (pays Basque), Liège,
Vlaanderen oriental et occidental, Antwerpen (toute la Belgique),
Belgrade, Portugal, Prague, Galice, Italie, Brésil, Royaume Uni, une
partie du site de l’Allemagne, et du site radio d’Indymedia global.

LinuxBiz seems to have been a relative success, as we managed
to get more attendees than the other conferences or the SI Expo
itself :-)
Indeed, depending on the time, we got from around a dozen people
(start during lunchtime and in the evening) up to 40 people
(early afternoon) with about 20 people for most of the evening.
The "concurrence" had about 6 people per conference, with some
conferences cancelled for lack of interest. The Expo itself
seems to have attracted relatively little public (as usual I'm
tempted to say) - we'll see what it looks like today.
The internet cafe in the center of the SI Expo features 8 PCs
with a Knoppix harddisk installation, people didn't seem to
have problems using it.
