Hi,
I've got some trouble with a samba setup, there might not be a
simple solution:
network A firewalls network B
fileserver1---------||----------client B
|
fileserver2
|
client A
So, there's a main network A with a large fileserver2 with decent
storage. Most clients access the fileserver2, running W2K3, directly.
fileserver2 is completely hidden from the outside, this will not
change.
We have a fileserver1, running an elderly RedHat with Samba, which
until now mounted a …
[View More]share from fileserver2 using a "generic" user,
and re-exported this via samba. fileserver1 is mapped to the outside
and accessible from network B. Each client from network B has his/her
own login to fileserver1.
Now, thanks to new policy, there may not be a "generic" user anymore,
or at least it won't get access to fileserver2.
So what I'd like to do is have clients from network B be able to
connect to fileserver1, and have that use that client's credentials
to access fileserver2 "on the fly", i.e. mount the share from
fileserver2 with that client's credentials, and re-export it to
the client on network B. We're not talking Unix login, only pure
samba - clients should not see anything other than their connection
to smb://fileserver1/share with exactly one instance of providing
login/password.
Is such a thing possible, and if yes, how? If the answer is no,
I guess there'll be a lot of unhappy users, myself included...
Greets & TIA, Eric

Saturday and Sunday is the Linux Fest !!!
We still need some help.
- On Friday evening to prepare the rooms
- During the event to help for small tasks.
- On Sunday after the event to help clean-up.
Please either register on the wiki or send an e-mail
if you may come.
http://www.lilux.lu/wiki/index.php/LinuxFest
For the event it would be good that all members wear their
LiLux T-shirts so they may be recognized.
We still have T-shirts for those who don't have one.
Do not forget to …
[View More]advertise the event !
Thanks.

Is there anybody on the list who has time and experience with (very
simple) handwork?
Indeed, we thought it might be a nice idea to but the outside arrow
signs on a flat support, so that we can fix them to lamp-posts,
columns and other round objects without needing to wrap the poster
around that object (which would make them less readable)
This doesn't have to be anything complicated: maybe a flat wooden
panel for behind the poster, or just a bar at the top and the
bottom. Due to the …
[View More]additional weight, we might however need some
better way of attaching them (piece of string or wire?) than last
year.
Postscripts can be found at the following URL:
http://www.lilux.lu/PromotionalMaterial/LinuxFest2005/Arrows/
The only signs that go outside or on a column (and need plastification
and a flat backing) are the arrows, and the concert sign(s).
N.B. Right now, we're still finalizing the design, so don't start too
early ;-) [But by Saturday morning, I think the design will be ok to
go]
Thanks,
Alain

I would like to have your feedback about the quality, availability,
reliability, ... of Luxembourg-Online Internet access, by DSL or by
Cable-TV. Also about their policies regarding port filtering, quality of
their help-desk, and so on...
If you have any experience with their VoIP service, I'm interested as well.
Thank you.
